Certificate Programs in Massage Therapy

Prerequisite: Holistic Massage Certificate Program
This program offers “hands-on” techniques that affect the health of the whole person--body, mind, emotions and spirit. Instruction includes: Acupressure, Body/Mind Therapy, Reflexology and Deep Tissue Massage. To earn a certificate, all sessions must be completed in order as outlined (100 hours of instruction). The hours may be applied towards satisfying some of the training requirements for a massage technician license. Health care personnel may earn CEU hours. (Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #00622 for 70 hours.) Fluency in English is required. Upon successful completion of all requirements, a certificate of completion will be awarded. A $40 materials fee is payable at the workshop.

Advanced Holistic Body Therapies Program II

Prerequisite: Holistic Massage Certificate Program, Holistic Body Therapies Program and Advanced Holistic Body Therapies Program I
This program offers participants the opportunity to further develop their "hands-on" skills in holistic bodywork modalities.  The sections covered will be Advanced Acupressure II, Advanced Body/Mind Therapy II, Anatomy & Physiology II, Deep Tissue Therapy, Myo-facial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy.  The hours may be applied towards satisfying some of the training requirements for a massage technician license. Health care personnel may earn CEU hours. (Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #00622 for 73 hours.) Fluency in English is required.  A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of all requirements. A $40 materials fee is payable at the workshop.

(Exam Preparation Workshop)
Becoming a Notary Public is more lucrative than ever! Increase your income and/or become a more valuable employee. Learn how to become a safe and effective notary and how to pass the required exam. This workshop will provide you with everything you need to know about California Notary laws and procedures, including: step-by-step notarizations, identifying document signers, how to complete the Notary journal and certificates, handling special and challenging documents and signers, how to avoid lawsuits, and how to pass the exam (practice exam will be provided). Bonus: Learn how to market yourself as a Notary, set fees and maximize your earning potential! All California Notary applicants and renewing Notaries appointed on or after July 1, 2005 are required to complete a six-hour certified course. The Official California State Notary Public Exam
The Official California State Notary Public Exam will be administered immediately following the Become a Notary Public in One Day workshop for those who wish to take it at that time. Participants must present Certificate of Completion from Notary Public Seminars in order to take the exam. Your test result will be mailed to you two weeks after you take the exam. If you pass the exam, you will then need to have your fingerprints scanned electronically. Cooperative Personnel Services will register you for the exam on the day of the seminar between 4 and 5 pm. The exam will be from 5 to 6 pm. To take the exam you must bring:

• a check made payable to the Secretary of State for $40 (new applicants and renewals)
• proper ID - current driver's license with a photo or state issued ID card
• one color passport photo (2" X 2")

• two #2 pencils

Stethescope and MoneyIntroduction to Medical Insurance Billing
One of the physicians’ most valued employees is the one who does the insurance billing. Learn medical billing techniques and how to follow up and collect on billed claims. In this workshop you will learn: how to bill Medicare, MediCal, TRICARE, CHAMPVA and private insurance carriers; how to complete the CMS 1500 (universal) insurance claim form; how to read an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and how to use it to bill secondary insurance carriers; how to look up diagnosis codes, procedure codes, modifiers, and how to bill from a Superbill. New Course offering symbolChronic Neck Pain
Whiplash and Torticollis
Prerequisite: Completion of 100 hours of basic Swedish Massage Technique 
Treating neck pain and cervical injuries requires assessment, palpation skills and an understanding of the Range of Motion of each structure involved.  At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to demonstrate competency in identifying, palpating and treating several neck muscles (SCM, Levator Scapula, Scalenes, Sub-Occipitals), associated structures and endangerment areas.  Participants will be able to address correct treatment approaches from the onset of the condition through rehabilitation (MET/PNF), following easy to understand treatment plans that fall under the Acute, Sub-Acute or Chronic Stage of Inflammation.  Both syndromes, Whiplash and Torticollis will be reviewed. Hours may be used as 25 Holistic Wellness hours or 25 Hours NCBTMB Continuing Education Units. Continuing Education Provider approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), Provider #450015-06.  Participants must attend all sessions to receive certification. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring two sheets, one pillow, one pillow case, lotion or oil, and 12 colored pencils. One homework assignment will be due to complete certification. A $10 fee for materials is payable at the first meeting.
